The Dutch midfielder is owed a lot of money by Barcelona that the Red Devils don't want to pay

Frenkie de Jong’s move to Manchester United has not been able to be sealed because of the debt Barcelona owe to the player, per the Daily Telegraph.

They say that the deal between Man United and Barcelona has been agreed at 65 million euros plus 20m more in variables.

Hoever Barcelona owe Frenkie a lot of money, because his pay was cut by 12 per cent due to the Covid-19 crisis and then he allowed Barcelona to defer various payments.

Frenkie was supposed to get 14m euros a year but in 2019-20 he got 3m, and in 2020-21, he got 9m. This coming season he would get 18m euros at Barcelona, plus 2.88m in loyalty bonus. Next season he is due 27.7m. These are payments Man United are not willing to reach.

They have told Barcelona they need to reach a deal with the player for him to be able to come.
