The coach does not want them to be part of the squad for the new season
We now know which players Xavi is taking to the USA for the club’s pre-season tour, but also, who isn’t going. A clear message to Riqui Puig, Mingueza, Neto, Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite, who the coach has not brought with him.
Interestingly Miralem Pjanic is going on the trip, even though he’s been out on loan last season. Xavi wants to have a look at the Bosnian and he will have chances to convince the coach.
Frenkie de Jong and Memphis are travelling, even though Barcelona would like to sell them because they need the money.
Marc Casado has been called up from Barca B, a defensive midfielder whom Xavi could mould into a replacement for Busquets. He’s 18 and this is a great experience for him.
