The Barcelona players boosted by Clasico drubbing of Real Madrid

Eric Garcia and Frenkie de Jong were among those who delivered at the Bernabeu

FC Barcelona's hammering of Real Madrid o Sunday was worth much more than just three points on an emotional level. The squad, scrutinised after an inconsistent season, proved themselves on the best stage possible, with several players producing magnificent performances.

Starting in goal, Marc-Andre ter Stegen was the wall he once was. He made several saves, including an early one from Fede Valverde which proved key. He was good with his feet as well.

In defence, Xavi's choice to play Ronald Araujo at right-back paid off. The Uruguayan nullified Vinicius, who created very little danger for Madrid. He has been questioned regarding his ability with his feet, but Araujo signed off a brilliant performance by scoring Barça's second goal.

Another player who gave an exhibition at the Bernabeu was Eric Garcia. The defender, who has always been criticised in Madrid since Luis Enrique called him up for the Euros, gave a masterclass in how a Barça centre-back should play, both with and without the ball. His display was praised by the supporters, who can see him as the centre-back of the future.

In midfield, the big winner on Sunday was Frenkie de Jong. The Dutchman took advantage of Carlo Ancelotti's system to always be free to receive the ball and was key in the final third, helping set up Ferran Torres' goal.

In attack, Dembele set up two goals and Ferran scored another and once again showed what he can contribute to Xavi's team.

Meanwhile, players like Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Pedri and Aubameyang were not strengthened by the performance given their level was already excellent before the trip to Madrid -- and they showed that again.
