The AFA apologise to Barcelona for coach Bauza's Messi comments

Armando Perez called the Catalan club to make sure the relationship was not damaged

The Argentine Football Association have apologised to Barcelona for comments made by national team coach Edgardo Bauza, who said that the Catalan club did not take good care of Lionel Messi, who injured his groin for the second time this season earlier this month.

AFA representative Armando Perez took the step to contact Barça and make peace in a conversation with president Josep Maria Bartomeu. “We have to have a good relationship with Barcelona,” Perez said.

Barça spokesman Josep Vives confirmed the call: “The AFA has contacted Barça to express its apology for the comments made by the manager in relation to the injury of Leo Messi. [Barça and the AFA] will work so that Leo Messi recuperates as quickly as possible because, as Luis Enrique said, ‘Messi is a global ambassador for football.’”

SPORT understand the call took place on Friday evening and Barça were very appreciative of the gesture. The two entities will now maintain contact as they seek the best of Messi’s recovery from a groin problem. He’s expected to miss three games for his club and two for his country.
