The German goalkeeper's back training but not in the squad for Alaves

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman says goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen needs a few more training sessions before he can make his first-team comeback.

Ter Stegen returned to training this week but is not in the squad for Saturday's La Liga match away at Alaves.

"He is training with the group since yesterday," Koeman said on Friday. "I think he's doing well. He still lacks a little to play. I hope he will be in condition to play soon. I don't know when, it's not good to name dates, he needs a few more sessions first."

It had been suggested the German would be back for the Clasico but that was not the case in the end. Everything suggests he will not be rushed now and Atletico Madrid on Nov. 21, after the international break, could be the date.

Ter Stegen had an intervention on a knee injury in November after playing through the pain barrier for several months.

In his absence, Neto, a 30 million euros signing from Valencia in 2019, has done well in the Barça goal.
