"Barça have a deficit of more than €200 million for next season"

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, explained during the VII Gala of the Sports Press Association of Madrid the reasons why Barcelona have still not been able to register Gavi. He was very critical of the Blaugrana and warned that they will not be able to register the young midfielder next season either if they do not reverse their economic situation.

"The issue of not registering Gavi comes as a consequence of [the contact] taking effect next season," said Tebas, who issued a warning to Barça: "For next year, [the registration] can be denied because Barça has a deficit of more than €200 million for next season. It doesn't seem appropriate."

The LaLiga president analysed Barça's situation: "Now they have an amount [within their salary limit] ater the savings on Piqué and Memphis. Barça must decide [what they do], but it is important to remember what Barça's vice-president said, that they have to decrease the wage bill. I think from €600m to €400m or a little bit more, let's see."

LaLiga has also blocked the first-team registrations of Ronald Araujo and Alejandro Balde and has now also denied the registration of Marcos Alonso's renewal contract.
