Tebas doesn't feel "betrayed" after Barça drop out of Miami game
Barcelona have pulled out of playing Girona in the United States
La Liga president Javier Tebas was very respectful of Barcelona's decision to withdraw from the game in Miami next month.
Barça and Girona hoped to play their league fixture -- scheduled for Girona's Montilivi -- in the United States but the league's proposal was met with disapproval elsewhere.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) were strongly against the idea of taking the game to the States, a move which needed their approval.
It also seems the other necessary parties who needed to be in favour for the game to go ahead -- the U.S Soccer Federation, CONCACAF, UEFA -- were not 100 percent in favour of the move, which prompted Barça to drop out of the plans for now.
"I don't see Barça's decision as a betrayal," Tebas said. "From the first moment we've said it was voluntary and that continues until the last minute.
"Of course I would have liked to play [the game in Miami] on Jan. 26, but I have to congratulate the two clubs, who allowed us to get to here, because that's going to help us in the future.
"Barça haven't ruled it out [in the future]. Their decision is measured. They don't want to be involved in the conflict and they have said that if there's an agreement between all the institutions, we can count on them [to play]."
