Xavi has called the B team player up to train with the first team this week

Barcelona return to training on Thursday after a day off to prepare for Saturday's Catalan derby against Espanyol at Camp Nou.

New coach Xavi Hernandez will once again turn to the B team to boost the numbers with several players still missing with various injuries.

Among those summoned will be Lucas de Vega, who also trained on Tuesday. The 21-year-old midfielder, born in Brazil but at Barça since 2011, has caught Xavi's eye.

De Vega's similar to Xavi in many ways and the coach has seen a player who is worth keeping in mind as the season progresses.

He has good vision and, even though he's best as the left interior, he can also play on the other side or as the deep-lying midfield player.

Curiously, De Vega has not had the continuity he would like with Barça's B team. He has started six of their 11 games this season.

De Vega stayed at Barcelona two years ago despite receiving a big offer from Tottenham and he had other offers again this past summer.
