Surprise at Celta over Barca's Gabri Veiga posture

The Catalans are not among the clubs who are pushing for the midfielder

"Under no circumstances do we want to sell Gabri, but I also say that they are going to buy him from us and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it." That line is from the president of Celta, Carlos Mouriño, and makes it clear what the situation of one of the great new discoveries in La Liga this season will be.

Gabri Veiga (20 years old) is the centre of attention at Celta and the club are aware that it will be very difficult to keep him. The Celta midfielder, who already has nine goals and three assists in LaLiga, has a release clause of 40 million, an affordable amount for the big boys.

Mouriño spoke of "four of the top ten in the Premier League" coming for him with big offers, and "as much as we would like to, we could not pay him what other teams are offering him".

There are several clubs that have called the footballer. Also, there is interest from La Liga. Two of them, Atlético, one of the clubs that are most interested in the player, and Real Madrid. But perhaps what has surprised Celta the most is that they are not aware that Barça have not made any move so far.

The situation of the player is complex. Also because on March 25 his contract with his agency ended and some of the most prominent agents are trying to sign him.

For the moment, Barça have other priorities for the coming season. Barça will spend its budget on reinforcing two positions in particular: right-back and centre-forward.

The first options for Xavi, in this sense, are Juan Foyth (Villarreal) and Vitor Roque (Paranaense). That does not mean that they are the only reinforcements. Barça are also working on other signings who, as in the case of Íñigo Martínez, would arrive on a free transfer.
