The Suarez goalscoring numbers that 'embarrass' Barça's forwards

| sport

Suarez has scored as many league goals as Braithwaite, Griezmann, Coutinho & Dembele combined

He keeps on scoring. We thought Diego Simeone could get the best out of Luis Suarez but it was difficult to imagine him having such a quick effect on his performances.

Suarez is a born competitor, an animal in the box, but his goal-scoring numbers with Atletico Madrid this season have exceeded most expectations.

His debut in La Liga for Atletico against Granada on Sept. 27 should have been a warning, even though he only played 21 minutes in that win.

Suarez has scored nine times in 11 league starts and has already established himself as the focal point of the Atletico attack.

Against Alaves on Sunday, after setting up Atletico's first goal, he scored in the last minute to give his side a vital 2-1 win away from home.

LEFT BEHIND

Now, time to compare his numbers with his theoretical 'replacements' at FC Barcelona. It is and was obvious that he would leave a huge hold behind at Camp Nou as Barça have no other No.9 -- Martin Braithwaite is the closest fit.

Between the Dane, Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, they have managed as many goals this season in La Liga as Suarez on his own. Nine.

It's a statistic that highlights Barça's problems when it comes to scoring goals, with coach Ronald Koeman regularly complaining of a lack of effectiveness in the final third.

It goes without saying that the injury to Ansu Fati has been noticed but the way Suarez was forced out and not properly replaced was not good.

Koeman wanted Lyon's Memphis Depay but he did not arrive and now he has to find solutions with what he has, with none able to do what Suarez did so well for so many years at the club.
