SportBild: Contact between Barça and Goretzka during the international break
German media says there were talks last week
Several other European clubs are also keen on the player
Leon Goretzka continues to be linked as a possible reinforcement for Barcelona next summer when his contract with his current club Schalke 04 expires.
Xavi Hernandez has said he would fit in well at Camp Nou and German newspaper SportBild have said there was contact between Barça and Goretzka during the last international break.
Barça have followed the midfielder closely this season. Robert Fernandez, Urbano Ortega and Ariedo Braida have all watched him live in the Bundesliga.
The problem is that many other teams are also following the German international, such as Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus -- the player may prefer a move to the Premier League.
Goretzka does not seem prepared to extend his contract with Schalke, who have made it clear they will not sell in January, despite the risk of losing him in the summer for nothing.
