SPORT talks to Barcelona star Sergi Roberto ahead of the Clasico
The first part of SPORT's interview with the midfielder-cum-right-back, ahead of the clash with Real Madrid on Saturday
He has become a fixture in Barcelona’s line up after years of struggling against the current, but his mood has not changed. He arrives, greets cordially and responds diplomatically.
Sergi Roberto has not lost his gentle side that he has shown since the start, but has also kept the calm security which has helped him take Dani Alves’ spot, against the prognostic.
At 19 years old he debuted in the Champions League at the Bernabeu. On Saturday he will be important at Camp Nou… up against Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pique spoke about the team showing the wrong attitude and Luis Enrique pointed out problems in the play. What’s your analysis of the game at Anoeta?
I think the credit belongs to la Real too. They had a very good game and things didn’t go for us. Luis Enrique said what he thought of the game and we are thinking about the next one.
What did the team tactically slip up on to be so dominated?
They pressed us high so that we could not come out with the ball under control and we could not control it how we like to.
It gave the sensation that it’s harder for the team to control games. Has the midfield lost its importance?
No. I don’t think we have lost control. It happened in Anoeta, but I think that we are going down a good path. It’s normal that with these forwards we arrive more quickly in the box, because they are three spectacular players who get past opponents easily. And for that, it’s easy to arrive more quickly.
The trident conditions everything?
Well, they are the best three forward in the world and it’s clear when you have the best forwards your football is based around them. But we are a team and the games are taken on by all of us.
