Sergio Busquets: I'm proud to reach 594 games
One of the Barca captains, Busquets has longevity at the club and is a leader
Sergio Busquets has reached 594 games. He is now the holder of the record of fourth most appearances for Barcelona, one more than Carles Puyol on 593. The midfielder got to the milestone in the 2-1 win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday. The Barca midfielder is one of the captains at the club.
"It's a very special number, I've been a Barca fan since I was little, this is my club, the best in the world," Busquets told the club website. "Being beside such important players in the history of Barca, like Puyol, Iniesta, Messi and Xavi for me is a pride and it makes me very excited. It's recognition of all the years we've been here, of my work. That will always stay there in history, I'm very happy."
Ahead of Busi are only Andrés Iniesta (674), Leo Messi (747) and Xavi Hernández (767). The milestone of 600 games is next.
Busquets has spent 13 seasons in the first team, during Barca's golden era. He has won three Champions Leagues, eight La Ligas, six Copa del Reys, 6 Spanish Super Cups, 3 Club World Cups, and 3 European Super Cups.
