The salary reduction of Sergio Busquets is in negotiation. The agents of the player, Josep Maria Orobitg and Pep Setvalls, have gone this morning to the offices of the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. In a video captured by SPORT, both were seen entering Mateu Alemany's office, accompanied by Rafa Yuste. The meeting lasted about 45 minutes and ended with hugs between Jordi Cruyff, Rafa Yuste and the representatives of Busi.
Busquets is one of the players whose salary the club needs to reduce to register the seven pending players (Lewandowski, Raphinha, Koundé, Christensen and Kessié as new additions and Sergi Roberto and Ousmane Dembélé as renewals).
The case of Frenkie de Jong remains complicated. For weeks now, the club has been telling the player and his agents to accept either a significant reduction in his salary or a departure.
As part of the exchange, Busquets may be offered a year's extension in his contract (until 2024), as compensation for the reduction.
