Senegal defender Mikayil Faye undergoes medical ahead of Barça transfer

According to Jijantes, Mikayil Faye is currently undergoing a medical, the first step before officially becoming a new Barcelona player.

His agents, including former Atletico Madrid player Juanma Lopez, met with Mateu Alemany on Wednesday morning to finalise the transfer of the player. 

Barça have been following the player for a long time. He can play as a central defender or as a full-back. He comes from NK Kustosikja, a Croatian second-division team.

At 18 years of age, Faye had attracted the attention of clubs such as Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, who were also on his trail, but Barça have won the race. 

His signing will strengthen Rafa Márquez's Barça Atlètic team, although he could be part of the first team dynamic if Xavi considers it appropriate.
