The defender was also sent off in the draw at Athletic Club in August

Barcelona's 3-0 loss to Benfica was further worsened by a late red card for Eric Garcia at the Stadium of Light in Lisbon on Wednesday.

The centre-back was sent off for a second yellow card and will be suspended for the game against Dynamo Kyiv in October.

It was a night to forget for Barça in Portugal. They fell behind in the third minute when Garcia was turned by Darwin Nunez, with Gerard Pique later taken off before he was sent off.

Ronald Koeman's side went on to concede three goals, with a handball from Sergiño Dest giving away a penalty for the third.

The night was rounded off by Garcia's red card, his second for Barça since he joined the club from Manchester City in the summer. He was also dismissed against Athletic Club in LaLiga.
