Santos' new president attacks Barcelona

José Carlos Peres, the new president of Santos, has started his new era at the Brazilian club by attacking Barcelona over the Neymar case. Peres, who become president in a tumultous election week, opened the doors of the club to former stars who have left.

"It's always important to count on our idols, our stars. Our relationship with Neymar cannot break. He has to feel that Santos is his home and not say he will play at another club. It doesn't make sense that someone who was here since he was 9 years old can say these things. Neymar is identified with us.

"We know there was a small problem with the legal wrangle, but it was not against our idol, it was against the club (Barcelona), who took our idol. It had to be against Barcelona, we will see how it goes. We have to look at all the contracts and see where we find ourselves."
