Sanchez Flores: Messi could score a hat trick in every game if he wanted

The Espanyol coach offered no excuses after watching Messi take his side apart at Camp Nou

Espanyol coach Quique Sanchez Flores says Lionel Messi could score hat-trick in any game if he wanted to.

Messi didn't score a hat-trick against Espanyol on Sunday, but he was instrumental in Barcelona's 4-1 win, creating two goals with incredible, jaw-dropping dribbles and scoring his side's fourth goal.

After wathcing his side's nine game unbeaten run in La Liga come to an end, Sanchez Flores admited it's difficult to stop the Argentine star when he plays like that.

"It's difficult to stop [Messi and Andres Iniesta], we're talking about [some of] the best footballers playing together," he said in a press conference.

"They bring beauty to football, they create so much space. It was a normal game until Messi disrupted our defensive order. It had gone as expected.

"But Messi changes every game, he stops time. He's the only player who could score a hat trick in every game if he wanted to."
