Samuel Umtiti willing to leave Barcelona on loan but wants a top club

The defender has not accepted any of the offers that have arrived so far

Samuel Umtiti will leave Barcelona in the coming weeks. The club are convinced they will find a new home for the centre-back, although it's not proving easy. Umtiti has given the green light to going on loan, but has certain conditions which make it tough. The Frenchman wants to choose his destination and aspires to join a club in the Champions League or fighting for silverware. For now, that option has not arrived and he's turned down offers Barça would have accepted.

Barça are working away calmly on Umtiti's future. So far, they have managed to overcome his reluctance to leave the club, something they didn't achieve last summer. He understands he won't get minutes at Camp Nou, so the best option is to find football elsewhere to get back to his best. From there, the club have been looking for suitors.

The problem is finding an offer Umtiti won't reject. The club have received up to three proposals in recent weeks, but they haven't hit the player's threshold for a move. The club will press in the coming weeks with LaLiga due to start on Aug. 15 because they need to reduce the wage bill. They hope that Umtiti will finally accept an offer that's already come in because it's complicated to find a Champions League club at this stage of the market.
