Salah close to Liverpool renewal, ruling out summer transfer to Barça

Mohamed Salah is slipping away from Barcelona. Per various reports in England, the Egypt stat has re-opened talks with Liverpool over a new contract and is close to signing a new deal with the Premier League side.

Barça had sounded out his camp over a move due to the fact his current terms expire in 2023 and he's open to a move to Camp Nou, but things have taken an unexpected turn and he's expected to pen new terms at Anfield In April.

Negotiations between Salah and Liverpool had broken down. The player wanted to be one of the best paid in the world and Liverpool did not want to break their wage structure.

Finally, the English side have agreed to a long-term contract, three years with the option for another season, and a €500,000 a week salary.

A key factor in the turnaround has been the affection and support he has received following international disappointment in recent months, first defeat in the African Cup of Nations final and then failing to qualify for the World Cup.

Negotiations have still not finished, but they are back on track. If Salah renews, Barça will continue to hope Erling Haaland chooses them, while Robert Lewandowski could be another option to strengthen their attack.
