Ronald Koeman planning Barca's pre-season squad

The Dutchman may be gone by then but for now he's making decisions

Ronald Koeman, Barca coach, is still doing his job despite the speculation about his future. He has a year left on his contract and has started planning the pre-season, ahead of any decision Joan Laporta will take next week.

One of the decisions that can’t wait is the players’ holidays. Most will go with their countries to play in the Euros or Copa America this summer. Those not called up will finish the season this weekend against Eibar in La Liga.

Koeman has given them seven weeks off with the intention of bringing them back in from July 12 for medical tests and Covid protocols. Work will intensify from July 19, ahead of potentially some friendlies or a tour. Pandemic conditions will determine that.

For the players in the Euros, their elimination will determine the date they have to come back. They should have around a month off. La Liga starts again in August, 14-15. Whether Koeman and his staff will still be at Camp Nou, we’ll have to see.
