Ronald Koeman: Coaching Barcelona is not in my plans right now

The second half of SPORT's interview with Dutch coach and Barca legend Ronald Koeman.

Obligatory question. How's the corona confinement going in Holland? 

Here we can go out to shop and also do sport. Shops are open and kids are going back to school this week. We've also been lucky to have some incredible weather, 20 degrees. 

Have you been keeping active?

Yeah. I've bought a bike and I do 60 kilometres daily with a friend. It's something I've not done before and I'm enjoying it a lot. It's helping me lose weight, I've lost nearly 10 kilos.

Do you miss anything?

I think that like everyone, I'm missing being close with my friends and loved ones, to give them a hug and share things.

What do you think about playing without fans?

It's the lesser evil and seems like it's going to happen in England, Spain, Italy and the Champions League. It's a pity to play without fans because football needs them.

You said that after Euro 2020, you could rescind your contract with Holland only to sign for Barca.

Yep.

Putting in that clause shows what a Barca guy you are.

When I started my coaching career I said I had two dreams: One, to coach my country, and the other, to coach Barca.

Now is not the moment?

No. My commitment with Holland is still the same. I will be with the national team at least until after the 2021 Euros.

You and Barca seems the impossible dream...

Barca have their coach and he's doing very well. For me, I can only say time will tell. One of the things that the coronavirus is showing us is that everything can change from one day to another. Let's see what the future brings.
