The Urugayan centre-back came on for Jean Clair Todibo and was dismissed

Ronald Araujo was sent off against Sevilla 14 minutes into his Barcelona debut. The B team defender was in the squad because of Clement Lenglet's suspension and Samuel Umtiti's injury. French defender Todibo went off tired after 73 minutes and Araujo replaced him for his debut.

The U20 Uruguay international was battling with Chicharito for the ball and the striker went down. Referee Mateu Lahoz issued Araujo his marching orders. It was a controversial decision and Ousmane Dembele was sent off for telling Lahoz "you're very bad" in the fiery aftermath.

Araujo is the 14th player under Valverde to debut from Barca B. In the first season it was David Costas, Cucurella, Jose Arnaiz and Oriol Busquets, then last year Riqui Puig, Jorge Cuenca, Chumi, Miranda, Abel Ruiz, Collado, Wague and Jorge Cuenca; and this season Ansu Fati and Araujo.
