They wanted to avoid the Spanish teams and Manchester City

Barcelona's dressing room are pleased with the Champions League quarter-final draw which pits them against Roma. Although Barcelona didn't train on Friday, players were paying attention to the draw. After getting past Chelsea in the last 16 they had been speaking about their preferences.

The feeling in the dressing room was they wanted to avoid Spanish sides Sevilla and Real Madrid - they don't like playing Liga teams in the big European competitions.

They also didn't want to face Pep Guardiola's Man City, who are one of the big aspirants for the trophy. Bayern and Juve were the next rivals to avoid - with Liverpool and Roma the teams that Barca players wanted to face, and of those two Roma was the preference.

Roma are third in Italy, 18 points behind leaders Juventus. Barca beat Roma 6-1 at the Camp Nou in the group phase two years ago and drew 1-1 in Rome.
