The French club had a loan deal lined up for Marlon but have turned that down to focus their attention on Mina

Olympique Lyonnais have rejected the chance to sign Barcelona's Marlon Santos on loan next season according to 'RMC'.

Lyon are on the lookout for a new centre back and had looked at signing Marlon on loan. However, according to the same source, the club are being especially selective when it comes to finding a partner for Marcelo in defence next season.

Now it appears the French club have switched targets and instead want Marlon's teammate at Barcelona, Yerry Mina.

RMC are reporting that Florian Maurice, the director of football at Lyon, has told Barcelona - and Eric Abidal - that they won't be signing Marlon and instead want to take Mina on loan for a year. The Colombian centre back isn't short of offers, most of which have come from the Premier League.

Marlon spent last season on loan with Nice but Barça are keen to sell him this summer as they're now well stacked in centre halves. Southampton and West Ham were both interested in Marlon and it appeared a deal was close but both times an agreement fell through.

Despite not being in Ernesto Valverde's plans for next season Marlon is still expected to travel with Barcelona for their US Tour.
