Riqui Puig misses training after taking knock from Stuani in Super Cup
The midfielder's a doubt for this weekend's B team match against Villarreal B
Riqui Puig missed training on Thursday as a consequence of a challenge he received during the final of the Catalan Super Cup against Girona. Cristhian Stuani caught him on his ankle and sent him flying. Despite the pain, the youngster finished the game.
On Thursday, though, he spent the morning with the club's medical team. They looked over his ankle injury to determine the extent of the injury. It doesn't appear to be serious but they will have to wait for the bruising to subside to be 100 percent sure. For now, he's not training as a precaution.
Puig is a doubt, therefore, for Barça B's game against Villarreal B on Sunday. It's a key game for the reserves as they look to book themselves a playoff place. And Riqui's a big player for them.
Merveil called up for Congo
Elsewhere, the qualification phase for the African Cup of Nations has created a further headache for Pimienta. The Barça B coach will be without Moussa Wague and Meveil who have been called up for Senegal and Congo for upcoming international games.
