RFEF also to appear as victim in Caso Negreira

Real Madrid, La Liga, the CSD and others have already taken the step

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has also joined the prosecution in the 'Negreira case'. This was announced in an official statement, where it says that "it will join in the proceedings, once the Court of Instruction number 1 of Barcelona has admitted the complaint of the Prosecutor's Office for the payments made by FC Barcelona to the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees, José María Enríquez Negreira."

The Federation dissociates itself from any involvement in the case and points out that "having analysed the situation, the RFEF has already sent the report of the Federation's Integrity department and all the documentation that supports the document to the UEFA Integrity director. The RFEF is collaborating from the outset with the competent authorities to facilitate the work of the investigation into these events, which predate the current management team".

Likewise, the institution wants to go "to the end" and asks for "the necessary and advisable serenity that "contributes to lowering the climate of tension that has been created towards the refereeing collective". The Federation hopes that these events, which are being investigated, will not have any influence on the image of the refereeing profession in the coming months.
