The returning Dr Ricard Pruna's sweet revenge
He worked 25 years for the club before having differences with Ramon Canal
After over 25 years working for Barcelona, Barcelona’s head medic Dr Ricard Pruna left the club of his life in September 2020.
He felt sidelined and badly treated. His relationship with the medical director Ramon Canal, was not fluid and they reached a friendly decision to end his contract and his time at the club. Pruna wanted Victor Font to win the elections because Xavi would be coach and he would return.
Even though Font didn’t win, Xavi did return, and one of the first petitions he made was his reincorporation. Curiously, Canal is still there in an important role, after arriving at Barcelona under Laporta.
Canal was one of the few executives who stayed in the Rosell and Bartomeu eras.
Ricard Pruna can consider his return a sweet revenge, although knowing him, the only thing that matters to him is doing his job to the best ability he can, regardless of whom the director is.
