Results of the first meeting between Valverde and Pep Segura to discuss transfers
The manager was informed that Paulinho could arrive soon

Ernesto Valverde met with Pep Segura, the sporting director, Robert Fernández, technical secretary, and Urbano Ortega, a member of the department, on Tuesday in what was the first meeting since Barça’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu decided to make Segura the senior person in charge of transfers.
The results of the meeting were significant and represent a change of course with regard to signings, either due to Segura’s contribution or perhaps the presence of Valverde. In addition to the news that Bellerín has been ruled out, the manager was also informed of the status of negotiations for the Brazilian Paulinho. The club is optimistic of receiving good news in the next day or so.
The other player to arrive is Deulofeu but Valverde and Segura have their doubts about the player’s work rate. Nevertheless, he will be given the chance to start the season.
The main doubt concerns Marco Verratti, who continues to train with PSG. The club have told the player they will wait until 31 August. Bartomeu himself spoke to the player to give him Barça’s support in his battle with PSG.
