The club want the goalkeeper from Vic to stay and a new deal is imminent, but the player has other offers on the table as well

It's another episode in the soap opera starring FC Barcelona and Arnau Tenas. In the coming hours, as we have been reporting in SPORT, the Catalan club will propose their offer to persuade the goalkeeper from Vic to stay.

Having not activated the automatic renewal clause that expired in mid-June, Barça will present a fresh offer to try and retain one of the most outstanding players of the U21 European Championship this summer. It remains to be seen if they are already too late.

Barça's sporting management want to resolve the matter next week. Coach Xavi Hernandez publicly acknowledged that he would love Arnau Tenas to stay as the third goalkeeper and the club, who were not willing to extend his contract, deeming it outdated and unfeasible in the current economic context, will try to devise a convincing proposal for the player.

However, the goalkeeper publicly confirmed that he is a free agent and his agent Ivan de la Peña has since received several offers, including some very lucrative ones.

Although the Catalan goalkeeper still wants to negotiate with the club of his life, as things stand it seems unlikely that his future will be with the Catalan giants. The player and the club will have to be willing to make concessions for the renewal to materialize. Even more so from the club side, given that they already let the extension cause expire.

Arnau Tenas is currently on vacation, resting and disconnecting after a season of playing with the reserve team and training with the first team. The goalkeeper has shown absolute commitment to FC Barcelona and has always made it clear that he will do everything he can to help the club. Other clubs however could seduce him, offering a change of scenery.
