World record income for Barcelona: 914 million euros!
Ahead of officially closing the ccounts for last season, the club has made a net profit of €13m
FC Barcelona have obtained the highest income in world football for the 2017/18 season. Never before has a sports company been able to surpass €900m euros in one entity over the course of a single season. This is what the club's spokesperson, Josep Vives, told directors at the board meeting this afternoon as he presented the official accounts for last season. Concretely, Barcelona earned €914m when the original budget was €897m. One of the reasons for this increase (it was €708m in 2016/17) is due to the money received for Neymar's move to PSG.
On the other side of the scales, in expenses, the sum has also considerably increased, approaching €882m. When you remove taxes, the net profit for last season will be €13m. Since 2010, and with exception of 2011 for the losses made on the transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, FC Barcelona have always closed their accounts in the black. Soon Barça's CEO, Oscar Grau, acommpanied by the director and club's treasurer Enrique Tombas, will officially present the club's closed accounts for the 2017/18 season.
