Real Madrid begin Sunday 11 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona

Barça are 11 clear of Madrid but have played one game more

Valencia are second, four points back from Ernesto Valverde's men

Barcelona are flying in La Liga: 31 points from a possible 33. And, after 11 games, they are 11 points ahead of Real Madrid, although Los Blancos have a game in hand against Las Palmas on Sunday (20.45) at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Barça's win against Sevilla on Saturday (2-1), played in wet and stormy conditions, consolidated Ernesto Valverde's side's position in the table. They are four points ahead of second-placed Valencia (27 points), who beat Leganes on Saturday (3-0).

Third in the table, for now, is Atletico Madrid (23 points) after they beat Deportivo at the Riazor in stoppage time thanks to a goal from Thomas Partey. Real (20 points) are just behind them.

STREAKS

The distance between Barça and Madrid reveals the form both teams are in. While Barça are 16 games unbeaten (14 wins, two draws), Madrid have lost their last two games. In 18 matches, they have won 12, drawn three and lost three.

Surprisingly, it's allowed Barça to build an 11 point lead over Madrid, although they have played one more game.

It's allowed Valencia, meanwhile, to establish themselves in second place with 27 points and 30 goals (the same as Barça). In addition, Los Che have not yet tasted defeat in the league -- neither have Atletico Madrid -- and their only weakness appears to be their defence. They have conceded 11 goals already.

Barça and Valencia meet later this month, on Nov. 26, the Sunday night game at Mestalla.
