Real Betis want to close deal for Barcelona's Munir
The striker has just one year to run on his Camp Nou deal
Real Betis are hopeful of agreeing on a deal to sign Munir from Barcelona in the coming weeks. The club's sporting director, Llorenç Serra Ferrer, asked about the players a few days ago and Barça are waiting for a meeting with the player to finalise his future.
The idea was to renew his contract so that he would have more worth on the market as he has just one year left on his current terms but the forward is not too keen on extending his deal at Camp Nou.
Betis want Munir to strengthen their attack and no that Barça can't demand too much due to the contract situation. Everything is in the player's hands after a fine season at Alaves.
Last summer he was in talks with Roma but the Italian club didn't want to pay the 15 million euros Barça asked for, so instead he joined La Liga side Alaves on a season-long loan.
Now, Munir has interest from several European clubs and is waiting on talks with Barça. The Catalan club want to make 12 million euros if they do sell, something which Betis and the other interested clubs are not yet prepared to pay.
The only way for Barça to strengthen their hand is to get the player to renew his contract. It's a complicated situation because he will not get playing time at Camp Nou. However, Betis may be prepared to negotiate a deal with add-one. The transfer of Munir could drag on this summer.
