Luis Suarez saves Barcelona at Betis after they were denied a clear goal

Barcelona scored a late equaliser against Real Betis after having been denied a clear goal moments before.

Luis Suarez scored in the 90th minute to save a point in Seville, but Barça were furious after the ball clearly crossed the line moments earlier, only for a goal not to be awarded.

The controversy and the calls for goal line technology, though, should not gloss over what was a disappoiting performance from the Blaugrana.

Real Betis were better for large parts of the match and deservedly took the lead through Alex Alegria after Barça failed to clear a corner.

Prior to that, Marc-Andre ter Stegen had been his side's busiest player, making save after save.

The home side also hit the woodwork twice, too, through Dani Ceballos -- via the finger tips of Ter Stegen -- and the lively Ruben Castro.

Once they fell behind, Barça eventually began to wake up.

Aleix Vidal's cross, under pressure from Neymar, was turned towards the Betis goal and hooked away off the line.

Replays soon showed that the ball had quite clearly crossed the line. There was no doubt.

Barca also had a penalty appeal turned down for a foul on Suarez, while another deflected cross from Vidal was also cleared off the line -- this time legitmately.

Despite the injutice, Barca kept going and eventually got an equaliser.

Messi fed Suarez and the Uruguayan, who'd had a poor game, slotted home to extend their unbeaten run to seven games.
