Valverde gave him some minutes which may be his last for the club
Rafinha returned 290 days after his last game. The Brazilian midfielder has been suffering with a knee injury that has kept him out for 10 months more or less.
Valverde picked him in the squad for the 1-0 defeat by Espanyol in the Copa and gave him the final few minutes in place of Denis Suarez.
Now it remains to be seen whether he will go to Inter Milan as expected, or if Barcelona keep the player. Inter want to loan him but Barcelona want to sell for 20m euros.
