Quique Setien left with just 18 players after January window closes

Barça lost four first team players in January and did not sign any

Barcelona have been left dangerously short following the closing of the January transfer window. The sale or loan of many players has left the first team as short as it has been in a long time.

Carles Aleña has joined Real Betis on loan, Jean-Clair Todibo's move to Schalke on loan with an option to buy, Moussa Wague's gone to Nice in a similar move and Carles Perez signed for Roma.

All four players had been involved with the first team this season and Barça have not signed a replacement for any of them.

Therefore, Quique Setien has seen his squad go from 21 (Perez was technically registered to the B team) down to just 18. One of those 18 is Luis Suarez, who's injured for four months. Another is Ousmane Dembele, who's closing in on a return to action.

As things stand, then, Setien only has 16 fit players. That doesn't include goalkeeper Iñaki Peña and forward Ansu Fati, who are regularly involved with the first team.

Full squad:

  • Goalkeepers: Ter Stegen, Neto.
  • Defenders: Nelson Semedo, Gerard Piqué, Clement Lenglet, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, Samuel Umtiti, Junior Firpo.
  • Midfielders: Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Arthur, Frenkie de Jong, Arturo Vidal.
  • Forward: Luis Suárez, Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembélé, Antoine Griezmann.
