Quique Setien: A revolution with smiles

The team has been working hard under the new coach this week

Each person has their own methodology or way of working. And Quique Setien is no exception.

The coach believes Barcelonas squad has to recover the intensity and spark they have lacked in many games this season. That's why the board brought him in, to bring back the team's identity, which they have lost.

Nobody doubts the quality of the players but the phyical level has been called under question. "We lacked legs in the final minutes of the game," said Antoine Griezmann.

Barca's physical fragility is unquestonable. If that's for bad planning, indolence on the part of the players, or whatever, it's true that opponents have run more and been more intense.

Setien has added sessions. For the first time in months the team has trained eight times in seven days. On Sunday the players will meet for a tactical chat at miday. After they will go home to eat and return to Camp Nou two hours before the league match against Granada. A tactical session to work on the deficiencies of a side that has trained on strategy and set pieces very little.

Setien will speak on Saturday but not publish the squad list unil Sunday morning. So players will sleep on Saturday knowing they have a chance of being picked. That will get maximum concentration out of them - Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique have done this before.

Eric Abidal offered Setien the job for him to change the complacency in the squad, get the working culture back and make the players think about Barca and football 24 hours a day. That is to say, raise the demand, and create more hunger to win. And all of that, with a smile.
