Puyol: "Piqué can't be held accountable for the decision Griezmann made"
The former Barcelona captain absolves Pique of any blame despite the fact the 'My Decision' documentary was produced by Pique's company
Former Barcelona captain, Carles Puyol, is convinced that Gerard Pique shouldn't be held responsible for Antoine Griezmann's decision to stay at Atletico Madrid. The controversy surrounding Pique is the fact his production company were responsible for the mini documentary in which Griezmann revealed he had turned down the offer to join Barcelona.
"A lot of people can think that it was Pique who influenced Griezmann. Not at all, the decision was made by Griezmann," Puyol said.
"The fact he (Pique) has a producer and that producer made the documentary I don't see as a bad thing. The decision was made by Griezmann. It's a very important decision and it's difficult for someone from the outside to influence that," added Puyol.
Puyol also spoke on the future of Neymar. "We're talking about an incredible player, one of the best in the world. I'd prefer to have him at Barcelona than in Madrid."
However, Puyol also recognises that it'll be difficult for anyone to take Neymar away from Paris Saint Germain this summer. "You need to wait, there's still a long way to go this summer. It won't be easy for him to leave PSG but we've seen lots of occasions where something appeared impossible at first but eventually end up happening."
