The former Barça player thinks the Argentine's the world's finest footballer

Mark van Bommel says Lionel Messi is still the world's best regardless of who wins football's individual prizes.

Former Barcelona midfielder Van Bommel, who played alongside Messi for one year at Camp Nou under Frank Rijkaard, returns to Camp Nou as PSV coach on Tuesday.

"Barcelona are not just Messi," he said in a press conference on Monday. "But, for me. he is still the best in the world, even if sometimes he doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or."

However, he revealed he's asked his players not to ask for the Argentine's shirt at half-time.

"I don’t care who gets his shirt after the game," he said. "As long as we get a good result, they can all fight for it. But the only thing I have asked of them is not to ask for his shirt at half time."
