PSG's Kimpembe could give FC Barcelona the green light for Koundé's move

Chelsea and PSG are negotiating for the transfer of the French centre-back; if he signs, the Blues would drop their interest in the Sevilla player

The dance of central defenders in the market is red hot. It is publicly known that Barça is after Koundé. He is Xavi's favourite pick to reinforce the central position in his team. But Sevilla, with Monchi at the helm, have been a very hard nut to crack, and while discussions are open and ongoing, they are yet to yield.

That is why Barcelona is working on a way to convince the Sevillian center-back. One of the rivals for the services of the Frenchman is Chelsea FC. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Stamford Bridge club is also in negotiations with PSG for Presnel Kimpembe. Although PSG is counting on the French international for their season, if a good offer arrives they could end up giving in. Chelsea's initial offer to be around 40 and 45 million for the player, whose contract expires in 2024.

Al-Khelaïfi is certain to ask for more than 60, but the agreement is not far away. In the event of this move, Barça would have their way forward freed in their attempt to get Koundé. Tuchel would be able to cover his team's shortcomings in defence with a top central defender. And, with other options blocked, Sevilla could very well be cornered to negotiate with Barça for the transfer of Jules.
