Pressure: Ilaix Moriba will not be with first team in pre-season
Barca want him to sign a renewal but his people are making it hard
Ilaix Moriba, one of the good news stories from last season, is not on the first list of players to take pre-season with Barca. For now they’ve put him on the B team list as a means of pressuring him into lowering his people’s demands in terms of a contract renewal. Barca believe they have bet strongly on Ilaix and hope his agents can take into account the club’s economic situation to loosen negotiations. Ilaix has to lower his demands or leave the club.
He has always wanted to renew his deal and more so after it was confirmed Ronald Koeman would stay at the club. However his new agents are managing important Premier League and Bundesliga offers.
For now, nothing is ruled out, but the only thing Barca are sure of is that they can’t let him walk away for free next summer. He’ll start the pre-season with the B team but the club know in a sporting sense he’s a first-teamer now.
