The new PSG coach was asked about signing Barca's Argentine star

Mauricio Pochettino debuts as PSG coach on Wednesday and today he spoke about Leo Messi, after being asked about the Argentine’s future.

The question was if he hopes Messi will be a Christmas present for the club.

“Papa Noel has already done a great job bringing me to PSG,” said Pochettino. “I thank the president Al-Khelaifi, and Leonardo, (sporting director) for the confidence they put in us. Let’s leave rumours for further down the line.”

He said he was concentrating “on the enormous challenge that coaching PSG poses”.

The coach also looked forward to the Champions League clash with Barcelona in February.

“For PSG the Champions League is the most important, but it is for everyone else too,” said Poch.

“It seems far away but it’s next month and now the important thing is that we arrive well in that game. We have confidence in our great squad. Barca are one of the best teams in the world and it will be tough.”
