Players' Association is still opposed Girona vs. Barcelona in Miami
The AFE are still not happy with the plans and do not give them their support
This is the statemnt that the Spanish Players' Association (AFE) have released on Monday in regards to the game between Barcelona and Girona which La Liga hope to stage in Miami in January. The AFE say they will not re-negotiate their stance until June 2020.
They say: "The AFE want to express the following after receiving a more detailed report on the game between Girona and Barcelona which La Liga hope to move to the United States in 2019:
"1. We have informed La Liga that said report does not specify the specific and necessary objective elements to be able to determine that the provisions of Articles 8, 9 and 37 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement will not be violated.
"2. The AFE reminds [La Liga] that for the time being, there are no mandatory authorisations that allow for the game to be played in the United States.
"3. For that reason, considering the lack of information mentioned, the AFE has transmitted to La Liga its lack of support for that decision.
"Meanwhile, the AFE expresses the following upon learning of La Liga's interest to start conversations to negotiate various points which could lead to the modification of the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
"1. Our association will not consider such changes as the current the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the AFE and La Liga runs until Jun 20, 2020.
"2. AFE reminds [La Liga] that to start such negotiations, there must be an agreement between all the parties entitled to do so.
"3. In the Collective Agreement in force, meanwhile, it's contemplated that the Joint Commission, which "will meet as many times as necessary at the request of any of the parties to resolve as many doubts, discrepancies or conflicts which may arise as a result of the application" of said agreement, this commission being the tool established by the parties to solve said issues."
