Andorra started the season well but have dropped down the table in recent months

Gerard Pique's Andorra have sacked coach Gabri after the third division side when six games without a win in the league, including three successive losses, to leave their promotion hopes in tatters.

Just a few months ago, the newly-promoted side were the revelation of the season. For several weeks, they sat top of the table and a playoff spot looked a certainty.

Now, though, following a dip in form, they find themselves in no-man's land. They are eight points back from fourth, the final playoff spot, and 12 clear of relegation.

Therefore, they have taken the decision to let go of coach Gabri, the former Barcelona midfielder who took over the side last season and led them to promotion from the fifth tier of Spanish football to the fourth.

However, Reus' administration opened up a spot in the third division and Pique's club were allowed to fill it, effectively meaning they experienced two promotions in one season.

Pique has chosen Nacho Castro, until now the coach of Horta, to take over Andorra in a last attempt to reignite the team's promotion hopes.
