The Barcelona centre-back was interested, through one of his companies, Kosmos, in purchasing the 49 percent that the club put up for sale

According to 'Crónica Global' and SPORT sources, Gerard Piqué previously tried to purchase Barça Corporate through his company, Kosmos. The Barcelona centre back was interested in acquiring the 49% of the business structure that the club was willing to sell through one of his companies.

The then-president Josep Maria Bartomeu did not even allow him to present an offer as this would have represented a breach of the club's code of ethics.

Bartomeu had invited Kosmos to attend the meetings in which the project was presented to different investors, in case Piqué's company wanted to transfer it to other interested companies.

These meetings resulted in four offers. According to the former president in the public letter addressed to Joan Laporta, these offers could have generated an additional 220 million euros for the club. This claim was rejected by Joan Laporta in a recent press conference.

The previous board sought to sell 49% of Barça Corporate in order to better exploit the four commercial assets that are not directly associated with sporting competitions, namely: Barça Licensing y Merchandising (BLM), Barça Studios, Barça Innovation Hub and Barça Academy.
