Philippe Coutinho: "There's only one Iniesta"

Coutinho habló para SPORT sobre el nuevo rol en el equipo tras la marcha de Iniesta / | Rubén Moreno

The Brazilian wants to avoid comparisons with Don Andres and is looking for his own space at Camp Nou

Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona as a consequence of Neymar leaving for PSG in the summer but also without one eye on the future with Andres Iniesta's departure nearing.

Now Iniesta has confirmed he is leaving Barça, Coutinho seems the natural replacement for the legendary Spanish midfielder but the Brazilian does not like being seen as Iniesta's heir.

He wants his own identity.

"Substitute Andres? That doesn't make sense, every player is their own man and replacing Iniesta is impossible," Coutinho said in an interview with SPORT.

"There's only one Iniesta in the world, he's unique."

Coutinho joined Barça for  a club record fee in January and took a couple of months to adapt to his new surroundings but it now seems  like he has been at the club for an age.

"I've come here to try and work hard and earn my space in the team in training and in games. I need to keep playing better to earn my space."
