Pere Guardiola: Umtiti to Girona? We're not ruling it out
The Girona chief spoke about the chance of signing the Barcelona centre-back
Barcelona are still working on their squad lear out. Various players are not needed for next season but the hard thing is finding new homes for them. One of those is Samuel Umtiti.
The French defender has been on the exit ramp for a couple of years. He signed a contract extension to 2026 to help reduce his yearly wage and make a loan away more possible.
Pere Guardiola mentioned that there might be a chance he could go to newly promoted Girona. Pere, Pep’s brother, is the chairman of the Board of Directors, at the club and he spoke to Cadena Ser.
“We aren’t ruling out Umtiti signing for Girona,” he explained. “(But) for these things, speak to Quique Carcel and Michel,” he said, referring to the club’s sporting director and coach respectively.
