The Brazilian won't play this weekend and will rest for the World Cup

Paulinho is the first Barcelona to end their season ahead of this summer's World Cup in Russia after Ernesto Valverde gave him some time off. He will not be involved against Real Sociedad this weekend.

The Brazilian trained on Thursday but it was his last session of the season with Barça. Valverde's taken the decision keeping in mind the fact he arrived in China having already played a number of games in the Chinese league, which runs on different dates.

On May 21 he will join up with Brazil ahead of the World Cup, so the Barça coach felt it was only right that he was given some time with his family before then.

NINE goles IN 49 GAMES

After joining Barca for 40 million euros, Paulinho ends the season having played 49 games (34 in La Liga, nine in Europe and six in the Copa del Rey) and he has scored nine goals, all in the league.

Paulinho is the third top scorer, behind only Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
