Paulinho will do anything he can to move to Barcelona. The player, who turns 29 this year, believes that this is a unique opportunity in his career and he cannot let the train leave without him.
The Brazilian has told Barcelona that if negotiations with Guangzhou Evergrande stall, the player will take the reins himself. He will speak to the president and ask to be allowed to leave, as well as publicly declaring he wants to depart.
The deal with Barcelona is fixed, a four year deal at 5 million euros a season.
Paulinho said: ”I have to speak with the president. But since I received the offer from Barca I've not stopped thinking about it and I hope things can be resolved this week.
"I asked my agent to speed everything up so that it can all be resolved this week because the transfer window shuts [in China] soon. That doesn't affect me leaving, but it would prevent Guangzhou signing a replacement.
"If the two clubs reach an agreement, everything between me and Barca will be very easy.
”When I was at Corinthians [in 2011] I turned down an offer to move to Russia worth 10 times what I was earning in Brazil.
"Players can earn money wherever they play. The important thing for me is to be happy with the decision I make, so if Barca offer me less than Guangzhou, it's not a problem because I will be playing for one of Europe's great teams."
