Pau López would cost Barça close to 35 million euros
That's the goalkeeper's release clause but Betis may negotiate
"Pau, your foot shows us the way." That phrase could be reead from a banner at Cornella-El Prat during a Copa del Rey game between Barcelona and Espanyol. The origin of the phrase is from the same month, when Pau Lopez stepped on Lionel Messi. Now goalkeeper Pau could be Messi's teammate.
It's evident that Jasper Cillessen will leave Barcelona this summer. At 30, he will look for a new club where he will be the No.1, not backup to Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Without the Dutchman, Barça will have to find a replacement and the casting has begun. Pau, the former Espanyol and current Real Betis keeper, is among the options.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Barça already know how much Pau will cost: his 35 million euro release clause. Despite that, the good relationship between the two clubs and the fact Llorenç Serra Ferrer is Betis' vice president could aid negotiations.
For Barça, 35 million is excessive but players could be included to, such as barça B defender Miranda or potential signing Ludovit Reis. Betis are looking for a left-back and Miranda would fit the bill.
